The allure of paper is obvious to me; it is lightweight, inexpensive and it easily imparts a balm to the psyche: the freedom to experiment. Mark-making represents agency and the first forms I made were of the figure, the face. Later, the utility of ‘working out’ ideas on the page took hold, however the pleasure remains; creation unencumbered by intellect feeds the soul.
